Childcare Affordability & Subsidies
We understand that you want only the best for your child, but the cost of childcare can sometimes feel unaffordable. At Playful Smiles we strive to provide the best possible care for your child at a cost that’s manageable.
Some families may be eligible for cost-assisted, or subsidized, child care based on gross (before taxes) income and family size. We work with the Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) to provide subsidized childcare to families who meet certain eligibility criteria. Those who complete the RCOE enrollment process, and are approved, will have a portion or all of their child care costs paid directly to the child care provider by RCOE. Below are the income eligibility ceilings (85% SMI) for 2025–26.

Know Your Rights in Choosing Childcare
The thought of leaving your child with someone new can be scary. In the State of California you have specific rights as a parent, and it’s important to understand what those are and where you can find more help. Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (CCR&Rs) give parents the information they need to make the best choices about their children’s care.
Oliver’s Law gives California parents the right to get the licensing history of any licensed child care program. Oliver’s Law requires all CCR&Rs to give this information to parents with every child care referral:
State law requires licensed child day care facilities to make accessible to the public a copy of any licensing report pertaining to the facility that documents a facility visit or a substantiated complaint investigation. In addition, a more complete file regarding a child care licensee may be available at an office of the State Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division. You have the right to access any public information in these files.
